    Dr. Ahmad completed his undergraduate education at the University of Glasgow Medical School in Scotland. He completed
    his general surgery residency at the University of Illinois, Metro Group Hospitals in Chicago and later completed a
    fellowship in colon and rectal surgery. Dr. Ahmad brings several honors and awards to The Oregon Clinic – Center for
    Advanced Surgery, including the John Hunter Medal in Biology and Colin C. MacPherson Bequest Prize in Orthopedic
    Surgery.

    Dr. Shaghayegh Aliabadi-Wahle, MD, FACS

    Dr. Aliabadi-Wahle graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. She completed her residency
    at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI and finished her research fellowship at Tulane University School of Medicine. Dr.
    Aliabadi-Wahle focuses on minimally invasive parathyroid surgery, gallbladder surgery, and minimally invasive surgical
    needs at The Oregon Clinic – Center for Advanced Surgery. She is a member of several organizations, including The
    Endocrine Society and the American College of Surgeons. She is also the Director of General Surgery and the former Chief
    of Surgery at Providence Portland Medical Center.


  • Dr. David Antezana, MD

    Dr. David Antezana MD

    Dr. Antezana has been a neurosurgical consultant in Portland since 2002. He earned a Bachelor of Science in biomedical
    engineering from Catholic University of America, and an M.D. from the University of Minnesota. He later completed
    residency and fellowships at Johns Hopkins Hospital in neurological surgery, cerebrovascular research and orthopedic
    spine surgery. Dr. Antezana is Providence Health & Services’ lead investigator on two NIH-sponsored trials; and his
    research on neurophysiological monitoring in surgery has been presented at major international neurosurgical
    conferences. He currently serves as the chair of neurosurgery at Providence Portland Medical Center. Other

    Dr. Dunst attended undergraduate and medical school at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center receiving B.A.
    in Molecular and Cellular Development Biology, Psychology and M.D. Dr. Dunst completed her General Surgery Internship,
    Residency and Fellowship in critical care at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis Minnesota. Dr. Dunst then
    completed her fellowships in Thoracic Foregut/Esophageal Surgery at the University of Southern California. In addition
    to her partnership at Plaza Ambulatory Surgery Center Dr. Dunst is also a member of the Society of American
    Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, The Society of Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, The American College of Surgeons,
    The American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and The International Society for Disease of the Esophagus and the

    Dr. Gaumond completed her Medical Degree and General Surgery residency at Oregon Health & Science University. She
    then completed a fellowship in Transplantation Surgery at The Ohio State University. She is a Fellow of the American
    College of Surgeons. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and certified by the American Society of
    Transplant Surgeons. She enjoys all aspects of treating patients with surgical needs and in caring for each patient as
    an individual. Her practice interests include all areas of General Surgery, open and laparoscopic for Cancer and
    non-Cancer disease processes. Examples of common procedures include, but are not limited to, surgery for diseases of the
    breast, gallbladder, intestine or colon, kidney, abdominal wall or musculature (hernia), autoimmune disorders, tumors,

    Mayo Medical School in Rochester, MN. His residency was completed at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. Dr. Jamison
    specializes in thyroid and parathyroid surgery, gallbladder surgery, and hernia surgery. Dr. Jamison serves on the Board
    of Directors at Plaza Ambulatory Surgery Center as the secretary. His other accomplishments include: Executive VP,

    Chicago, IL. Dr. Marr focuses on bladder cancer, kidney cancer, and general urology at The Oregon Clinic – Urology. He
    is also a volunteer for the International Volunteers of Urology, the Wallace Medical Concern, the Safehaven Community
    Outreach program and is an organizer for Physicians for Social Responsibility at OHSU. Other Interests:

    Cincinnati, Department of Surgery in 2003-4. Dr. O’Brien completed a clinical fellowship in colorectal surgery at the
    Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH. In addition to his partnership at Plaza Ambulatory Surgery Center Dr.
    O’Brien is a fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American College of

    Gainesville, FL. He now focuses on general head, neck and sinus related issues and Thyroid & Parathyroid Surgery at

    Dr. Soot is an Oregon native, and started his surgical practice in 2000. He completed his medical school and residency
    at Oregon Health & Sciences University in Portland, and went on to start practice in Portland. He is Board Certified
    in General Surgery, and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is married, and has 2 children. He enjoys
    all aspects of General Surgery in his practice. He has a particular interest in melanoma, laparoscopic surgery, and
    hernia repair. He also has a focus on colon and small bowel disease, gallbladder disease, breast cancer, melanoma, and
    soft tissue masses. Other Interests: When he is not practicing surgery, he enjoys a wide variety of

    Dr. Whiteford graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and later completed his general surgery
    internship and residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Whiteford finished his
    fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He brings The Oregon Clinic
    –Center for Advanced Surgery several honors and awards, and was the 2007 recipient of the Society of the Alimentary
    Tract Traveling Fellowship in Surgical Endoscopy. He was also inducted in the Marquis Who’s Who in America publication
    in 2010. Dr. Whiteford is the Clinical Assistant Professor at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and is a
    member of many organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, and the Northwest Society of Colon and Rectal

    Dr. Karen Zink MD

    Dr. Zink completed her General Surgery Residency training at Oregon Health & Sciences University in 2010. She is
    board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She earned her
    medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She completed her undergraduate degree at the
    University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Zink is the Co-Surgeon Champion for the National Surgical Quality
    Improving Program for Providence Medical Center. She, along with Dr. Yu, leads and oversees program implementation and
    quality initiatives aimed to improve surgical outcomes. She is a general surgeon who is interested in the broad range of
    general surgery, with a focus on minimally invasive surgery. Areas of interest include gallbladder surgery, hernias
    (laparoscopic and open), colon and small bowel surgery, surgery for melanoma, and surgery for breast disease. She is
    particularly interested in working with athletes and others who participate in strong physical activity, on helping them
    return to a high level of function as quickly as possible after hernia repairs and other surgeries. She has experience
    working with long distance runners, advanced cyclists, people who do heavy lifting for work, and others interested in
    maintaining their physical activity. Other Interests: When not working, she enjoys juggling,

    Dr. Kevin Driscoll grew up in a small town in Oregon and knew from a young age that he wanted to be a doctor. He
    graduated with a bachelor from Portland State University and went on to obtain his doctorate from California School of
    Podiatric Medicine. In addition, Dr. Driscoll further completed a specialized masters degree from Lake Erie College of
    Osteopathic Medicine while pursuing internship in Pennsylvania. Dr. Driscoll completed an extensive podiatric medicine
    and reconstruction foot and ankle surgery residency in Ohio. During residency he finished a fellowship in Dermatology
    & Dermatopathology from Georgia. After his extensive training he was ready to return to his home state and join
    Oregon Foot Clinic which is well-known for top-quality foot and ankle surgery, and all podiatry services.

    He is an active member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and American Podiatric Medical Association.
    Dr. Driscoll is proud to offer honest, experienced, and friendly care, and has developed a reputation for high quality

    Dr. Hayman grew up outside of Chicago and completed her undergraduate education at Tufts University. She then received
    an MD, as well as a Masters in Public Health degree, at OHSU, followed by a general surgery internship and residency at
    Northwestern in Chicago, including a two year clinical research fellowship in surgical oncology. During her final year,
    she served as administrative chief resident.  She then underwent fellowship training in colon and rectal surgery at the
    Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota prior to happily moving back to Portland to take her current position at The Oregon
    Clinic.

    Dr. Hayman holds a number of leadership positions within The Oregon Clinic and Providence Health Services. She has been
    awarded Portland Monthly’s “Top Doctor” Award for Colon & Rectal Surgery in 2015 and 2016. She always strives to
    provide compassionate care, resulting in awards from the Mayo Clinic and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. During
    residency, she was also lauded for excellence in teaching residents and medical students. Lastly, she has presented
    results from a variety of colon and rectal research projects at both local and national surgical conferences, receiving
    multiple “Best Presentation” awards.

    Dr. Daniel Holland was named one of Portland’s Top Doctors in 2016 by Portland Monthly Magazine.

    Dr. Holland has also taken his family on medical mission trips to Kausay Wasi Clinic in Coya, Peru and Tenwek Hospital
    in Bomet, Kenya.

    Dr. Holland has an extremely low complication rate and performs a very efficient and safe surgical procedure for
    removing cataracts.

    Dr. Holland has extensive training and experience in both Comprehensive and Pediatric Ophthalmology. His special
    interests include cataract surgery and strabismus. After graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in
    Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University, he completed medical school and his Residency in Ophthalmology at
    the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He also performed a transitional Internship at
    Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon.

    Because of his special interest in pediatrics, Dr. Holland continued his education at the Storm Eye Institute in
    Charleston, South Carolina with a Fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus. As a pediatric
    ophthalmology fellow, Dr. Holland performed significant and award-winning research in pediatric cataract surgery and
    retinopathy of premature infants.

    Dr. Holland enjoys using his medical expertise on his international medical mission trips.  He has taken his family on

    Dr. Kemp specializes in bladeless LASIK, PRK, Refractive lens exchange, advanced femtosecond laser cataract surgery, as
    well as treating diabetes and glaucoma.

    Dr. Kemp earned a B.A. in Biochemistry from New York University. He graduated Cum Laude from State University of New
    York at Buffalo School of Medicine and served his Internship at Millard Fillmore Hospital in Buffalo, NY. Dr. Kemp
    completed his Ophthalmology Residency training under the guidance of several pioneers in refractive surgery at Louisiana
    State University in New Orleans. His research in refractive surgery has been published and presented at several academic
    ophthalmology meetings.

    Dr. Maria Kiely MD

    Dr. Kiely is fascinated by the variety of procedures and disease processes within colorectal surgery. She joined the
    colorectal field because she felt that there was a need for women surgeons in the specialty, especially given that women
    often leave anorectal and pelvic floor issues untreated due to concerns about embarrassing exams and discussions. Her
    favorite part about her job is that fixing even the most basic anorectal problem, like hemorrhoids, can make a big
    impact on a person’s life – especially when also making the patient feel comfortable, at ease, and minimizing
    embarrassment.

    Dr. Kiely received her Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Quantitative Methods from Harvard, and she
    is passionate about practicing evidence-based medicine. Dr. Kiely is fluent in Dutch and Spanish and enjoys working with
    the Hispanic population.

    Dr. Kim is a fellowship-trained cornea and external diseases specialist with expertise in corneal transplantation,
    blade-less LASIK, and advanced femtosecond laser cataract surgery. Creating deep connections with patients is what drew
    Shane K. Kim, MD to ophthalmology.

    Shane Kim, MD attended Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and earned a B.A. in Chemistry. He
    subsequently attended New York University School of Medicine where he was awarded a teaching fellowship in Gross
    Anatomy.

    After his medical school training, he completed his internship at the University of Pennsylvania’s Presbyterian Medical
    Center. He went on to residency training at the University of Pennsylvania’s Scheie Eye Institute. After completing
    residency training, Dr. Kim spent an additional year at the University of Pennsylvania as a Clinical Instructor. In
    addition to teaching residents, he served as a clinical fellow in cornea and refractive surgery. Dr. Kim completed a
    second year of fellowship training in cornea and external disease at the University of California, San Francisco’s
    Proctor Foundation.

    Dr. Robert McGlynn was named one of Portland’s Top Doctors in 2020 by Portland Monthly Magazine.

    Dr. Robert McGlynn is a  fellowship trained glaucoma specialist and comprehensive ophthalmologist, with expertise in
    glaucoma and advanced cataract surgery. Dr. McGlynn is a graduate of Yale University and completed his residency in
    ophthalmology at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, New York, New York. Dr. McGlynn went on to complete a Glaucoma
    Fellowship University of Illinois Chicago, Illinois.

    Dr. McGlynn has been in private practice in Vermont since 2012. He joined our EyeHealth Northwest team December 2015.

    Dr. John O’Shea specializes in disorders of the knee, which allows him to treat all age groups with a variety of
    conditions from athletic injuries to arthritic conditions. These treatments include knee arthroscopy, ACL & ligament
    reconstruction, knee replacement surgery, and kneecap realignment.

    As an orthopedic surgeon, he enjoys returning people back to their active lifestyles using both conservative and
    surgical approaches. When surgery is not the best option, Dr. O’Shea appreciates situations when he is able to improve
    someone’s knee condition with a nonoperative, conservative approach.

    Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, swimming, cooking, music, guitar and spending time with his family.

    Dr. Rubinstein went into orthopedic surgery because he instantly related to the specialty as a medical student. He found
    it to be particularly fitting because he has always been mechanically inclined and has applied this to treating
    musculoskeletal conditions. He was fortunate to have excellent training in orthopedics as well as sports medicine and
    reconstructive knee surgery. He has been practicing now for almost 30 years and has seen his practice evolve to mainly
    outpatient procedures, including joint replacement.

    He prides himself in taking care of the whole patient and trying to understand that particular person’s expectations and
    goals. He enjoys forming relationships with and learning from his patients. He has been involved in outpatient total
    joint replacement surgery for the last 10 years. His first outpatient procedure was inspired by a particular patient who
    wanted to recover at home. Dr. Rubinstein believes that when we take the time to listen, we can learn a lot from those
    around us.

    Dr. Rubinstein loves the proximity of Portland to so many outdoor activities including the mountains, the Columbia
    Gorge, and the coast. Outside of work, he likes being physically active including biking, hiking, tennis, and skiing. He
    and his wife enjoy camping and backpacking adventures. He also enjoys spending time with his two adult daughters. He
    also has a lifelong hobby of fixing and collecting old toys.

    Dr. VanDlac graduated from the East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine in Greenville, NC. She later completed
    her internship in surgery and her residency in urology at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland, OR.

    When Dr. VanDlac is not in the office, she enjoys running, mountain biking, skiing, hiking, backpacking, traveling, and
    cooking.

    My treatment philosophy is education. I don’t think there’s anything more rewarding than empowering patients to make
    decisions about their health care. Taking the time to teach patients about their diagnosis and the various treatment
    options allows us to work as a team in order to make a care plan that they can be comfortable with.

    Dr. Carolyn Yang is a board-certified Orthopaedic Surgeon

    Dr. Yang received a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. She then
    completed her medical education at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, Kansas where she also
    finished her residency in Orthopaedic surgery. She then concluded her training with a fellowship in hand, elbow, and
    upper extremity at the University of California – San Francisco.

    Dr. Yang is an active member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand and a Fellow of the American Academy of
    Orthopaedic Surgeons. She holds memberships in the Oregon Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Ruth Jackson Orthopaedic
    Society and the American Association for Hand Surgery
